Like so many red-blooded American families, we had Indonesian food for our Christmas Eve dinner tonight: Spicy coconut chicken (opor ayam) with shiitake mushrooms, coriander and cinnamon-infused risotto topped with fried shallots, and garlicky broccoli. For dessert, we had warm gluten-free brownies with dulce du leche ice cream. It was all yum!

Now we’re going to let the boy open a single present, put out some milk and cookies for Santa Claus, and go to bed, lest Krampus comes and eats our faces!
