Everyday the boy comes home from school and says that the lunch monitor has asked him to tell me to put his lunch in a container that’s easier to open because the bento box I use is “too hard to open.” In fact, one of the little bento boxes that I use for the boy’s lunch came home the other day with broken snaps.

I switched to using a bento box from a traditional thermos because it seemed to me that a thermos was harder for the boy (or the lunch monitor, for that matter) to open. The boy assures me that the lunch monitor is an adult, not a child, so her difficulty opening the bento box can only lead me to conclude that she’s either a complete moron or a racist. Or both.
