In an effort to do a better job at listening and paying attention to my kid (and stuff like that), I decided to do things differently today. When the boy climbed into our bed early this morning and asked if I could lay down with him in his bed, rather than tell him that I had to get the day started and decline his request, I went to his room with him and we snuggled and giggled in his bed for an hour.

Since becoming a dad, weekends have taken on a whole new urgency. We don’t get to spend much time together during the week, so we need to maximize our time on Saturdays and Sundays. While busy daddy went to yoga, the boy and I stay at home, played, and basically did nothing around the house. I didn’t even feel guilty for not going to the gym myself. Baby steps, but that’s progress for me.
