Penn Station is usually a zoo. Commuters are headed home at the end of the day, and there are crowds of people catching the Amtrak to other cities. A lot of people must have taken the day off from work today because the train station was actually pretty empty.
There used to be this really unpleasant train conductor on the evening train that I usually take. She’d basically reprimand everyone for everything, like not showing your train pass in the correct orientation or standing in the vestibule because the train was packed. She was one of those people who probably has a horrible, tragic personal life so she takes it out on commuters. I imagine that a lot of people complained about how awful she was and she got fired or reassigned. I haven’t seen her in a few months and the commute home has been almost relaxing without her.
