I’m trying to adjust my normally bad attitude about exercise, which means I’ve been getting up early, going to the gym, and working out before heading to the office. So far (at least this week), it’s been going fine, but it’s still kind of boring to me. I realize that if I’m telling the boy that being healthy means being active, I should probably take some of my own advice.

The gym in the morning is a lot less crowded than it is in the evening, and that’s a good thing. There’s this one lady who spends her entire workout doing abs. It’s an amazing sight to behold. There’s another woman, who looks like a bodybuilder, who carries around printouts of female bodybuilders as inspiration. She places about a half dozen images around her as she’s doing her workout. And then there are the assorted moms doing Zumba and businessmen getting in their morning workouts before conquering Wall Street. People who workout in the morning mean business. Meanwhile, I’m just meandering around, wishing I could have a piece of cake.
